Internships


Indigo Editing & Publications offers a quarterly internship program.

Editorial

Duties include:
  • Evaluating submissions for the Ink-Filled Page literary journal
  • Editing selected submissions
  • Author communications
  • Researching links, bestsellers and book reviews, editorial tips, and events for the Seeing Indigo blog
  • Weekly Editorial Tip updates
While this internship is unpaid, we offer free books and discounts on books bought at a specific retailer. Intern will also receive a free copy of the Ink-Filled Page print anthology.

Work will take place in our office one to two days per week, but much of the work can be done from home. Position will require a dedication of 15-20 hours per week for 10 to 12 weeks.

Requirements:
  • familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style
  • a passion for the book industry
  • understanding of Microsoft Word Track Changes
  • excellent written communication skills
  • previous editing experience a plus
  • Web maintenance skills (preferred but not required)

Publicity/Sales

Duties include:
  • writing and editing press releases
  • scheduling readings
  • coordinating book sales
  • event planning
  • Internet research
  • general support

Requirements:
  • 10-15 hours/week, 3-4 of them in person at our office
  • basic understanding of and passion for the publishing industry
  • good phone and e-mail etiquette
  • outgoing personality
  • team player
  • organization

If you’re interested in joining Indigo’s team of skilled editors, please e-mail the following materials to a info@indigoediting.com:

  • Cover letter detailing your experience in the editing and publishing fields as well as the genres you specialize in.
  • Detailed report proving the need for more editors with your specialty in the market and in our company. Include analyses of book trends, genres concentrated with aspiring authors, and other editors’ specialties.
